My Inner Child and My Swamp Creature Are at War: A Love Letter to IFS Therapy
It’s been both terrifying and incredibly relieving to revisit and let go of some core beliefs I’ve carried throughout life.

My Wife Has Surrendered to the Crabs and I Find That Embarrassing
There’s such a thing as the food chain, and humans--despite our many flaws and failings--are at the tippy top on account of our big brains, opposable thumbs, and capacity for sudden and shocking acts of violence. And I’ll be goddamned if I let a scuttley little rock creature reverse the entire goddamn food chain because I happen to be unexpectedly at the beach.

Oh, Look. It’s Another Hot Take on Menopause by Some Random Sweaty Lady on the Internet!
But hey, they promised, don’t worry! Menopause is coming! MENOPAUSE! There’s an entire Greek root in there that means END. By 2025, I was about to turn 50, which kind of sucked, but there was a silver lining: all of this (literal) bloody misery would soon be coming to an end. Huzzah, I said to all who would listen (and to all who I forced to listen). Hu-fucking-zzah.

The Five Albums I’d Take to The Desert Island Where I Guess I’ll Die Alone?

When I Was High: Brilliant Ideas in the Fields of Restauranteering, Musical Enrichment, and Streaming Reality Food-Based Entertainment

The ideas I have! Here are three — please don’t steal them. These are all part of my retirement planning.

Love Letters: Jet Lag: The Game
As a 51-year-old mother to two fully grown humans, I am relatively certain that "Jet Lag: The Game" was not created with my demographic in mind. Maybe it's part of the charm for me — one can only muster so much enthusiasm for yet another Hot Menopause Take (spoiler alert: menopause is, in fact, hot, and not in the good way, but in the sweaty-panic way). I was looking for something utterly different. Jet Lag is definitely that. The osts of this show haven't mentioned menopaus

Why I Made This Blog
So, there’s no unifying theme on this blog. It’s called “Off the Record” as a nod to my day job, but that’s as structured as we’re going to get here. I might post about my cats or my family or my job or most likely, stuff I like that I hope you’ll like, too. I have no idea what might come up here, but I promise whatever it is, it will be real.
